Local Ludlow Community Scholarships

The scholarships listed on this page are offered through various school and community organizations, businesses, and individual or family sponsors. LHS is extremely grateful for this support for graduating seniors each year.

Ludlow High School Seniors may apply each spring for these local scholarships. Students should look ahead at the requirements for each scholarship to see what they may be eligible for as a graduating senior.

General Requirements

The Wanda Lay Bucher Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based 50% on financial need, 25% on academic achievement, and 25% on school involvement

 

The Mike Caple/Ludlow Youth Football Scholarship

Two $250 Awards (one to a boy and one to a girl)

Must have at least one letter in a varsity sport, at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA or higher, have at least 4 years of involvement in the LYF Program either as a football player or a cheerleader

The Marilyn Rex Carpenter Scholarship

$14,500 awarded to one student, spread out over 4 years

Must have at least a 3.3 unweighted GPA or higher, Based 50% on financial need, 25% on academic achievement, 10% on school and community involvement, 10% on leadership, and 5% on daily school attendance

The John & Sue Draud Memorial Scholarship

One $1,000 Award

For students attending EKU or a Community & Technical College; Priority will be given to students majoring in education

The Ruth & Ray Faragher Scholarship

Two $1,000 Awards

Based 25% on financial need, 25% on academic achievement, 25% on ACT score, and 25% on the essay

The Donald J. “Chip” Finck Scholarship

One $500 Award

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA, have completed at least two years of varsity football, and have worked to overcome some type of obstacle in life

The Abigail J. Froehle & Tai Anthony Stewart Overcoming Adversity Scholarship

Two $250 Awards or One $500 Award

Based on an essay discussing some type of obstacle that the student has worked to overcome (physical, emotional, spiritual, or personal/family)

 

The Goetz-Kitson Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based on academic achievement, service to school/community, effort, character, and financial need

 

The Ideal Supplies Work Ethic Scholarship

One $500 Award

Must have a weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher; Based heavily on an essay about student’s personal work ethic

The Ronald B. & Grace Jones Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based heavily on the student’s parent involvement in the school district; Also based on financial need and school involvement

The Jordan Logan Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Student must demonstrate strong school and community involvement, strong work ethic, and a great amount of integrity, as shown through essay format

The Ludlow Athletic Boosters Scholarship

Varies, based on Funds Available

Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher; Must have at least two years of varsity play in two different sports; Based heavily on essay detailing how athletic involvement has impacted their life

The Ludlow Christian Church Scholarship

Two $500 Awards

Must have at least a 2.75 GPA; Based on any church or community involvement, academic achievement, and financial need

The C.L.A.S.P. Scholarship

One $250 Award

Must have participated in CLASP (Children of Ludlow After School Program) during their elementary years; Must use scholarship to further their education

The Ludlow National Honor Society Scholarship

Varies, based on funds available

Must be a member of NHS in good standing; School, community, and NHS involvement and participation heavily weighed

The Panther Pride Scholarship

One $200 Award Given Annually to One Student Per Grade Level

Students accumulate the amount awarded each year of elementary and high school, receiving the total award as a graduating senior; Based on academic achievement, daily school attendance, school and community involvement, citizenship, and school spirit; 

The Ludlow PTO Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based on academic achievement and school involvement; Must demonstrate community involvement; Must have a letter of recommendation from a teacher

The Ludlow Student Council Scholarship

Varies, based on funds available

Must be an active Student Council member in good standing; Factors weighed include academic achievement, leadership, school/community involvement, character, daily school attendance, and having a positive influence at LHS

The Ludlow Teacher Scholarship

One $2,400 Award, paid over 4 years ($600 each year)

Open to a student planning to major in education; Must show proof of college enrollment in these classes to continue receiving payments; An interview with a faculty committee is required; Based on academic achievement, financial need, and school/community involvement

The Rita Wofford Dickmann Memorial Scholarship

Varies, based on funds

Open to any student enrolling in a 2-4 year college/university in the fall.  Students must be at least a two year letterman in the boys or girls basketball programs at LHS.

The Lisa Dyan Stamm Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based on essays demonstrating leadership, character, effort, and academic achievement

 

The Ludlow Education Foundation Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based on overall school and community involvement, citizenship, and school pride 

 

The Benjamin Steffen Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Based on athletic involvement and student's "love of the game"

True Character Scholarship 

One $250 Award

 

Open to all seniors that are pursuing post-secondary education or military; essay and letter of reference required

Tools of the Trade Scholarship

One $1,000 Award

Open to seniors entering a trade career or trade school immediately after graduation.

Martha Stauber Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Open to ALL seniors!  Award based on genuine and loving expression of appreciation.

William "Si" and Peggy Johnson Memorial Scholarship

One $500 Award

Open to seniors pursuing postsecondary degree in education

Ludlow Band Scholarship

Multiple; Award may vary

Open to seniors pursuing postsecondary degree and participated in band all 4 years of high school
