5th Grade- Social Studies and Writing

Dear Parents and Students,

  I am so excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year here at Ludlow Elementary! I would like to take the time to introduce myself for those of you who do not know me. My name is Shannon Hansman and I am beginning my 10th year of teaching, my 6th here at Ludlow. I am anxious to begin the school year as the 5th grade social studies and writing teacher.

This year will be both challenging and fun! Students will be tested in math, reading, social studies and writing in the spring. We will work very hard all year to prepare students for that end of the year KPREP test. The 5th graders will follow a schedule rotation and will have different teachers for certain content areas. In every class students will be held to high expectations, but I am positive we will have a successful year!

Something possibly new for the students will be having to have a planner signed nightly. All students will be given a planner to write down assignments and important information.  I will check and sign planners on a daily basis.  I will ask that a parent checks and signs their child’s planner nightly in order to assure communication and student success.

Also, students here at Ludlow are given many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities. Ludlow Elementary offers Girls and Boys Basketball, Quick Recall Team, Governor’s Cup, Future Problem Solving, Chorus, Girls on the Run/Track, Panther Strong Boys and more. I hope all students try something new and get involved.

Alongside parents, I will be the student’s biggest supporter! I am here to help and encourage all students. I will communicate with parents for students praise and concerns and please feel free to communicate with me anytime. I look forward to working with all of you and helping each student accomplish many goals throughout this school year.
