"Kentucky law (KRS 158.6453) requires that each school district and public school produce and distribute school and district report cards... The purpose of the School Report Card is to keep parents and community members informed about what is going on in each Kentucky school. It is an opportunity for schools to highlight their strengths and explain what they are doing to improve on any weaknesses."(KDE web site)
"Signed into law in January 2002, NCLB requires states to provide information on schools' and districts' progress toward proficiency by 2014. Each state uses its own standards and assessments to make the annual determinations. Kentucky uses data from the 2006 administration of the Kentucky Core Content Test and submission of alternate portfolios to provide 2006 AYP information for the schools and districts."(KDE web site)
